​We love race horses! The New Zealand Racehorse has a fantastic reputation internationally - and not just for racing.  Well re-trained race horses are also sought after in the sport horse market to - they make great eventers, beautiful show horses, endurance riding mounts, fantastic polo ponies and are my personal peference for dressage horses because they are so forward moving.

We offer a race horse retraining program for owners that have made the decision to retire or not start thier race horses but would like them to have a chance at a second career.

We would love to give them all a chance to shine - and the move to these disciplines is not a difficult transition for most ex-race horses, in fact it amazes me that we don't see more of them out there!  They are used to being handled, transported and expected to perform in different environments - all this is valuable training and experience for any horse!  Unfortunately not every person buying a horse prepared for the track has the experience or knowledge to re-train them, which has given the "ex-race horse" a reputation we do not feel they deserve.

We offer owners honest, pragmatic assessment of thier ex racehorse about what discipline thier horse might be suitable for, an estimate of the time that it would take to retrain their horse for an alternate career, and the costs to do so.  We can then work with owners to understand of the horse is to be surrendered to us (we take ownership) or if they wish to retain a financial interest in this until a perfect home is found and recoup some of the investment of re-training on sale.

We are passionate about getting the NZ ex-race horse the reputation it deserves, and to show our intent we run this part of our business as a charity, backed by private sponsors who help us cover costs.
